Oman, not Amman

What a b*mmer. Friends of the OH are moving from Dubai and invited us to stay at their new place in Amman - or so OH said. Got really excited thinking of the Pink Palace, dead sea scrolls, search for the Holy Grail etc. When OH said their villa overlooked the sea, warning bells rang - turned out to be Oman!!

Will have to find out where in Oman but it'll be a let down compared to Amman - just know it will!!

OH is in the doghouse for the next week!!

I'd go. Oman is fascinating, You won't find the Holy Grail there, but I wouldn't like your chances in Jordan either. It's mostly sand dunes and oasis towns, but Muscat is an interesting town by the sea. Good for a week or two, I would have thought.

It is a lovely place. Spent some time there myself.

Could be worse, could be Riyadh.

Mr Spudqueen went to Oman last year for work and loved it. He said the people were really friendly, and he loved the beaches. Just be careful when you go - he went in October and it was still very hot.

I'd take Oman over Amman any day. It is the new 'hot' destination to go to - get in quick before it gets ruined and over commercialised like Dubai. Wonderful hotels - try the Chedi - great scenery and charming friendly people. Please let OH out of the doghouse now......
