Can someone please tell me the best sequence to get onto the internet? What I mean is, firstly I need a phone line, do I get connected with BT then go to an ISP offering the best/cheapest service? What is the best ISP?

So you have two options - contact Virgin and get their cable broadband installed, or get a bt line and take your choice from the hundreds of ISPs out there - including Virgin if you don' t live in a cable area.

all of the 3g phone companies here in Ireland offer a little gizmo that you simply plug into your usb socket and presto! - broadband. No set up, no messing about. You could look into the availability there? (Here they're offered by vodaphone, O2, and 3)

Contact Tiscali for a phone line & bb. They do a good first package for 19. 99p a month. This includes everything, as well as free landline calls to 01 & 02 numbers 24/7, plus free international calls to several countries. Think it's called the Tiscali Anytime Max, but if you contact them, I'm sure they'll be only too happy to explain. They have the most pleasant staff in Customer Services that I've ever come across, and they're very patient in explaining things to customers.
