Where does the Silk Road starts and ends?

The silk road is the ancient caravan route along which silk was carried from China, through central Asia to Antioch and the eastern Mediterranean, and eventually to other parts of Europe. It was in use for about 1500 years, particularly in the days of the Roman Empire. Part of it were traversed by Marco Polo on his visits to China in the late 13th century.
