Hi I received two letters this morning concerned an account with Natwest and one with Halifax. I have received a 35 charge from Natwest as I used my debit card when I had insufficient funds and I do not have an authorised overdraft. I rang this morning and as I have already had a goodwill gesture in the pass (on a diff acct with them) they will not refund my charge. Halifax have charged me 39 due to an unpaid cheque, they too will not refund me due to a previous goodwill gesture in the past.
As you have obviously attempted to carry out transactions through accounts with 'insufficient funds', the banks are entitled to charge you for this. However, it is the amount of these charges that is currently in the headlines.............have a look at this site.
