Who buys Christening presents?
5 Answers
It's my nephews Christening in December and I'm wondering who supposed to buy presents for the child? Is it just godparents, is family, is it everybody and anybody? I'm really not up on the do's and don'ts as we're really not a religious family.

Some are very religious, some church of Scotland where there have been a few children christened just within the Sunday Church Service. Anyway I know there are some religious silver gifts and some kind of novelty type things -ie silver baby hair brush, silver birth certificate holder, money box etc. These are nice ideas but in my mind not very useful. It is not necessary to give a gift but as with any occasion I think it is nice to give a little gift to mark the occasion. I recently gave a boxed set of Beatrix Potter books (was very good price in discount book shop) - this I felt was a nice momento and something the child could keep and enjoy. Something a bit more religious would be a bible or childrens bible storied - children can never have enough books.
