Orance liqueur
11 Answers
I am making a cake which requires an infusion of ornage liqueur at the end. What is an orange liqueur, I am thinking Cointeau (sp) or am I wrong? Also, I don't want to buy a whole bottle just for the cake so can anyone recommend a supermarket that sells the little tiny bottles (like the ones you get on an aeroplane).

I find over in the States most liqour stores like ABC sell all sorts of miniatures, over here (UK) I often see miniatures in independant off-licences but I don't recall seeing them in supermarkets.
If the worst comes to the worst why not buy a bottle and drink the rest? Lovely stuff!!!!!

thank you all.
Hippyhoppy, thats a great idea, saves having to buy a bottle. There aren't any independent off licences in our town (and I use 'town' loosely) so the little bottles are unheard off.
Redcrx, no I'm not drinking but I am eating 2 lb of liqueur filled chocolates a day though.
Leggy, if I was there, believe me, baking a cake would be the last thing on my mind!

War - if it is just an orange flavored liquid you need you could always make a simple syrup with orange zest/peel to it.
Equal parts sugar and water heated together - along with the orange if you want that flavor.
I hope you are well War - I have been thinking about you.

Well I made it and it turned out rather well, I as quite surprised! But I think you are right BBW and orange syrup is what was called for and the dash of vodka sounds fine too pastafreak.
I did as hippyhoppy suggested and went to the local bar and bought two measures of contreau (felt like a real wally but what the heck!)
BBW, all is going very well for me, absolutely no problems at all, the bump is coming along nicely - am cooking it in a slow cooker at 36degrees for about 9 months! Wont be too long now but sometimes I have to remind myself that I am pregnant or someone else reminds me with a good ole jab in the ribs, lol.
