Hi, I'm doing an assignment for uni on Bullring and I'm carrying out a critical analysis and was just wondering whether any of you have visited Bullring and have any criticisms of it.....layout,stores etc.

Thanks

Yes I went their a couple of months back when visiting birmingham for the Police reunion gig at the NIA. I had heard of it and it looked good on the internet, so I wanted to go have a look. My thoughts were that it was terrible because:

It was hard to find as a tourist we found the carpark for the bullring, then parked, walked our way out of the carpark then found ourselves in the middle of no where with no signs. We thought the carparks were connected to the bullring, but no you have to walk a long distance past some terrible market stalls to get to it.

There were quite a few steps the way we walked to the bull ring which were not nice to climb.

Where were no shops that interested me in the end but selfridges, I really spent as little time as possible at the bullring and then left asap, as it was full of odd people. If a shopping centre is in the outskirts of a city it limits the people who go there to people who drive or have the money to get there. But when it is city centre based you tend to get anyone including scarring people who look like they have escaped from a mental hospitals or who look like they havent any money and want to rob you. I felt insecure there, and wanted to leave.

I cannot remember seeing leaflets or information boards on where shops were located. But then again I didnt stay long.
I love the bull ring! it is my favourite place!

We did not find it hard to get to as it was well signposted.

We parked in a car park then i think we went in a lift and walked into the bull ring via the glass tunnel which was amazing. i felt like i was a 'jetson'

Also once in the store they have information points, they were digital if i remember correctly. When anyone goes to any new shopping place, whether its indoor or outdoor, its bound to be a little confusing as your mind isnt familiar with it.

The bathrooms were gorgeous and the layout was fantastic. the outdoor patio area by Nandos (one of several choices) and the other restaurants is a nice little area which looks out on to some modern water feature and also an old church.

The range of stores was what i liked the most, they have everything from New Look to Gucci. Selfridges is wicked!

they even had by each door a little dispenser for plastic bags to put nasty wet umberellas in.
