That's okay Fr Bill - I don't mind you asking at all.
Yes it was absolutely awful having to lay perfectly still & awake for 5 solid hours whilst they were trying to locate the problem! I was only given a very mild sedative, but unfortunately not enough to put me to sleep! I then had to lay perfectly still in the ward for 24 hours afterwards, with 6 tubes coming out of my groins! Trying to pee on a bedpan horizontally, wasn't very amusing either! I did say that if it came back (which I was informed it could), I just couldn't go through with it all over again.
I was always fine swimming, or walking on 'the level', but had been very breathless, along with palpitations, on walking upstairs, or on a gradient. I had a tread mill test which showed that I had WPW. I was initially given medication, but my Consultant said that if I were him, he would have gone for the ablation, which after a lot of soul searching, I reluctantly did.
I'm now pleased to say that I can once again run up the stairs two at a time, without puffiing, panting, getting pains in my arms, &/or feeling giddy! So I'm trying to be positive & enjoy my life as much as possible.
Thank you for your kind words, bigmamma & Fr Bill - nice to share experiences, 'specially when there's a positive outcome.
I'm sure yours will be too BM. -xx-
