radio problem

hi,
have just bought a ford car, the radio is a 6000cd , when I switch the radio/cd player on, all I get is the message "phone" in the screen. I have pressed all the buttons, but nothing. any ideas?

A suggestion from another site is to check the phone mute lead for a short...
