What animal produces the most urine, per weight ratio?  This teaser was asked by my son. any idea.

It seemed to be the guinea pig that I used to have. She didn't seem to drink much, but would drench the newspaper on the bottom of her hutch. Seemed she absorbed moisture from the atmosphere!!!

Freshwater fish have to produce huge amounts of very dilute urine all the time, to avoid bloating with water absorbed through the gills.

 

I guess the most urine will be produced by the most active fish -- so perhaps a trout or other fish living in running water.

 

It seems New Forest's (as always) well-informed, answer has put my fatuous remarks in their place. Thank you for the stars, though.
