Stanley Gibbons are the experts in this field but they only have offices in London.....A quick tip is to check the edges as they should NOT be perforated, apparently the early stamps were cut by hand to suit the postage needs and not ready perforated.......If you need a better evaluation then I could do no better than recommend going to a local auction house....there are three in Glasgow the best one being Great Western Auctions in Otago Lane just off Great Western Road..... http://www.greatwesternauctions.com/
Even if they are genuine they will be worth considerably less now you have come across them. I know that excitement can get the better of all of us but you should be more careful as rare stamps are very delicate
Despite its reputation, the penny black is not particularly rare or valuable, so don't get too excited. It all depends on a number of factors and the majority are only worth a few pounds at best. http://www.stamp-shop.com/penny-black.html
If you came across them they are probably ruined anyway.
Was that joke funnier the second time round?
That will teach me not to read all the posts properly!
