I had an accident last year and I accepted responsibility. Luckily my insurance has a no claims protection so I was surprised to get my policy statement for next year - premium has gone up 25% - is this normal procedure?
So my no claims discount is the thing that is protected?
My premium is not protected and is whatever they want to charge.
I thought paying the extra for this every year was a way of allowing me one accident without punishing me, not true..!
Is it worth haggling with them or trying elsewhere? I'm with Direct Line.
Rang them today and apparently all the increase is due to a change in postcode! Not talking of a lot of money, I have 10 years no claims and paid 220 last year, now its 280. Take it or leave it.
