on last nights episode purdy was in hospital having her "eggs" harvested for them to have a surrogate baby with kate but then when she was in hospital she said to gray that the last time she was there she had everything taken away, so if she had everything taken away, as in a full hysterectomy, how can she have her eggs harvested????

hysterectomy is just taking the womb
hysterosalingectomy is womb and tubes
hysterosalpingooferectomy = womb, tunes and ovaries
if they'd left her ovaries she would still produce eggs

What are the tubes and ovaries connected to then if the womb is taken? Or do they just float about?

I `ve had my womb, 1 fallopian tube & 1 ovary taken out. The rest of my bits are still there.

apparently she had one ovary left in when she had the operation, convenient wasnt it! i should get out more
