Biblical Fable

Hi, does anyone know which fable I'm thinking of or where it appears: Jesus disguised as a beggar and asking to be given shelter in people's homes?

That rings a bell with me. I'm sure I was told the story as a child, but I can't remember what it was. I've found a similar tale from Jewish folk law involving Elijah, so perhaps the story of Jesus was taken from that.
