Have I fractured my foot?
5 Answers
One of our dogs has a tendancy to run at very high speed towards me when we're out walking. So last night whilst out he did his usual and my first reaction was to sort of curl up because I'm always worried he'll hurt my pregnant bump, usually he diverts at the last moment but this time he didn't and ran straight into my leg, catching his steel like thigh right on my foot. He thought it was great fun off course, but It hurt me so much I was doubled over with pain. After the initial pain went, it came back later on last night and although I could move my toes, I still cant walk on it and even the slightest touch of it REALLY hurts. Its extremley bruised today, have I fractured it? Do I need to go to the emergency room? TIA

If it is swollen and painful it wouldn't hurt to have it looked at and x-rayed , but if you are happy to wait and you can still walk on it then it may be bruising .As Dassie says , it is not possible to comment really positively without seeing it . All the best :-) xx
I have broken my foot three times, once almost in half, and once snapped 3 metatarsals and once a few march fractures march fractures and guess what each time I could wiggle all my toes. The same goes for broken azrms too just because you can move your fingers doesnt mean it isnt broken. You coul;d always go to the GP on monday, but they will probably just send you for an xray. If its broken metatarsals or march fractures they mroe than likely wont put a cast on it anyway.
I sdhould add to that, however, if you cant move any of your toes its a good sign you have broken your foot. If the pain is also excrutiatng and always there thats a good sign its broken too. ICe will help bring down the swelling and so will soaking it in epsom salts and warm water. Even if the pain is only a reaction though its still could be a break. 26 bones in your foot so its not that difficult to break one, I got the march fractures by missing a step on the stairs.
