I would like to improve the sound from my TV, but am completely confusued about what I need. I dont know whether I need a home theatre kit or an amp and speaker set, and to be honest, I have no idea what the difference between the two is.I have looked at my tv instructions and it shows sockets for AV Audio L/R + CVBS + Component. My dvd player has 5.1 capability and is connected to my DVD via HDMI Cable.
I am not looking for anything special or expensive, just some sort of surround sound speaker set up that will improve overall quality of sound for watching TV and DVD.

Please can someone point me in the right direction, or even put some links to possibilities.

i presume you have a music centre, if you do then the easiest way is to buy or borrow a phono to phono lead and plug it into the aux on your stereo
