Which Vaccum is best at lifting English Springer Spaniel hairs?

Hi folks,
I am the owner of both a springer spaniel and a Dyson DC04 absolute, unfortunately the two don't mix well as the Dyson is useless at lifting the dogs hair. My question is is it worth spending the money on a Dyson animal or are there other vaccums on the market that are just as good at lifting pet hairs?

I have a Kirby Bloody expensive but bloody good too.

Not that I would advise it, but in the 1980s my mum used to hoover the dog as well as the carpet. Not a good idea for small dogs.

There is an attatchment to my Kirby spesifically for this. It is sort of like a rubber brush thing. I agree though bit dodgy on a little one.

On one of my dog groups the general recommendation was a Miele. Don't know which model, as I tend never to use the 'V' word.

I have a Miele, i have had it for over 13 years , and it gets most of the hairs off the carpets.

We have an Electrolux Vitesse petlover 1600w. It seems to work OK for our springer but I don't use it on her, plus the fact that she is combed every night.

Sorry forgot to add the hairs clog the filter so we have a spare we can interchage with while the other is drying after being washed. It is good for dust too.

Hi, just thought I would add my votes to the miele cleaner. Mine copes with two little dogs ever moulting hair quite well. The branded replacement bags for the cleaners are expensive though.

I had a DCO4 which was OK for a few years, then the hairs started clogging round the roller, I dont have a springer, but long coated collies that moult. I have had a Dyson animal for 12 months, and have found it to get all the hairs up first time, and at least there are no expensive bags to replace. (I wouldnt hoover the dog though, try giving him some cod liver oil which may reduce the shedding, give him regular baths as this gets rid of loose hair, and daily grooming)

Don't bother with a Dyson animal, mine broke within a year and all I have are Labradors. Try a Henry, mines been great!

Hiya, I have a very hairy Collie, and I have not long bought a Bush Bagless upright vacuum with spare filter etc. and lots of attachmenty thingums, for �30 (new) in a catalogue clearance place called Hitchens. There may be one near you; if not I am sure you can get them online for not much more. It's sturdy and picks up all his hair (though not the hair on him-vacuuming dogs, what's all that about?!)

I think Dysons are expensive and thoroughly overrated!
