The short answer is no.
Suppose you suffer damage of �200. You can claim �200. Not �400, that is an f word. (fraud)
One company may look on not owning up to an original insurance as a material fact which affects the contract. So I wouldnt claim �100 from each.
With house insurance, under insurance is far more of a problem, and with a flood damage fr' instance, they turn over heaven and earth to say, Ah the house is insured for 50 000 and it is worth 100 000 and so we are only paying our half your claim, what ever it is. The vermin who carry out the insurance companies' evil deeds, against defenceless batty old women [like my poor mum] are called loss adjusters. C'est la vie baby.
