Hi
I know I'm coming in at the end of this post, however ....
I agree with you that it's the most incredibly selfish act that a person can perform .... to leave those who love you behind, wondering if, in some way, they are responsible or could have prevented your fate ....
I hear people frequently say 'it's a coward's way out' .... I cannot describe how strongly I disagree with that statement .... to know that in perhaps a short period of time you will no longer be walking the planet .... that, to me, is bravery .... but also the act of a tortured mind ....
Nobody who is 'thinking straight' would commit suicide if they knew the devastation they would leave in their wake .... nobody .... they couldn't possibly .... the last thing on their minds is to torture their loved ones for as long as they live after them ....
Given my occupation, I have attended to many suicide victims, both the dead and the living they leave behind .... I see people cope with it, and those who don't .... some who move on, some who don't ....
One common thread, however, which runs through my experiences is the cliche that 'time is a healer ' .... again, I disagree .... time doesn't heal, it just help you to cope ....
I also agree with others that perhaps professional help or counselling may get you through this ....
I wish you every blessing and I hope you can find some peace of mind .....
