I was wrongfully accused of theft of monies in the workplace (a major company) and suspended for 2 months during their investigation. This was all very stressful however I believed they would be competent enough to quickly find me innocent. Unfortunately, the investigator was useless and actually disclosed information about other people in her report about my case (I received a copy) therefore breaching Data Protection. At the day of my hearing I was told there had been errors within their systems and they now knew I had not stolen anything. I am now off sick with the stress and feel abused, bullied and harrassed. Am I entitled to compensation for the stress/upset? I have read somewhere about Duty of Trust and Confidence? Many thanks.

Suing for compensation will be extremely stressful and upsetting, even if you win. Have you lost any pay whilst this has been going on? Are you on full pay now?
The best way to help yourself is to pull yourself together and get back to work. Being at home moping and dwelling on it will not help you one iota.
If it helps you can lodge a formal grievance about the way the matter was handled and hope for a written apology.
