You know it's Christmas when....
What makes you feel like Christmas has arrived? I always like it when Children in need has been on, because then you know Christmas is only a few short weeks, but i always feel like Christmas has truly arrived when:
* the Coca Cola "holidays are coming" advert is on (they should bring that back!)
* Starbucks start doing eggnog lattes, gingerbread lattes and peppermint hot chocolate.
what about everyone else?

while i understand what reverandfunk says about the day itself not being the birthday of Jesus, in today's society where religion now plays a very small part, i think that any occasion (regardless of the original origins) when people are encouraged to get together and spend quality time with each other, is a good thing. not enough nice things are said and done anymore, so we should enjoy christmas for what it is now, rather than for what it used to be.

when the staff actually bother to look at the Christmas/New year rotas I spent hours doing but they ignored for a month, and then start whining about wanting this night off and that day off and then they get upset when you say, 'tough it's retail', I go out of my way to give them time off and then they decide there are all these works parties their partners are going to and they want to go too!!! (It just annoys me and makes me out to be mean but I am not,, retail is rather busy 3 days before christmas!!!!
Domestic violence and the season of peace and goodwill go hand-in-hand.
heres a copy of a letter .
Dear Santa,
Does the toothfairy live at the North Pole? Tell her I need a new tooth. Maybe you can bring it with my other presents, I want a party dress like Amelia's and a pony ... and please can I have another dolly? I promise I won't break her head off, even if she's very naughty like Mary Anne was. I've been very good and Dad didn't need to give me a lot of smacks and I think I've been much gooder than Mom has.
love from Samantha.
PS The tooth must be a big one, 'cos it's for Mom.
sad fact season where most domestic abuse happens against children and partners.
so you know its xmas cos ur neighbours are fighting and the next day shes got a black eye from walking intop a door !!!!!
merry xmas

i know christmas when my mother in law puts the brussels on - usually around 20th December.
I loved my childrens nativity plays at school, and when husband arrives home declaring undying love ( i'm not really p1ssed I only had two) from the works lunch.
Trawling round Tescos fighting for double cream and cream sherry
Midnight Mass
and finally
enjoying your kids hitting their teens and waiting for THEM to wake up to open the presents.
It is a special time in our household and I savour every minute of spending time with my sisters and parents, nephews and nieces

Oooo I have to say midnight mass , which is now actually at 9.30 in my parish ! 8-)
Think I'll go to my schools parish this year because their's is actually MIDNIGHT mass, its such a great feeling when your walking out of mass and you realise that its actually Christmas!
Also when theres alot of fundraising for SCIAF going on, and everyones fighting over the charity christmas cards.
And finally, when I have to sing for the old people at their christmas lunch, always makes me feel so christmassy and fuzzy when I see all the OAPs smiling and enjoying their turkey, spuds and sprouts.
Bring on Christmas! =]
