what would scare you so much, you would freeze, you wouldnt be able to move, your so scared, you almost pass out. i think ive got to say, the only thing that would scare the hell out of me so much, that i would go drip white and feel sick all in one, would have to be if something supernatural happened to me. i dunno, off the top of my head, if something like from blair witch or the ring actually happened, wow...id be beyond petrified! just wondering what other peoples ultimate petrifing moment would be...

I've survived two car crashes, and both of them were pretty scary. There's that second when you see the wall or tree rushing towards your car and you know you can't do anything about it.
Jock - Were you the passenger or the driver?

i can imagine that! ive only been in one car crash, but it was nothing serious. i have to ask though...is it true what they say? everything seems to go in slow motion when everything happens? i remember a school teacher telling us once how a car actually crashed into the wall of her house, smashing through the kitchen, she remembered it vividly, but always said how it seemed to all happen so quick, yet feel like slow motion...wierd!
I agree, I would say being in bed and KNOWING that there is somebody there, in the house, walking around- supernatural or real!!
Mine would be last week in a field watching fireworks and one must have been faulty because big lumps kept flying off and getting closer and closer and I just grabbed my children and ran, I think I actually stopped breathing. Scared beyond belief, but thank goodnes none of us were hurt. Reading this back it doesnt sound very scary but the flaming lumps were so close.

Heights. Absolutely petrified.
Being hit by a Tsunami and disappearing under the force of water.
My nightmare would include -
1. A swarm of clicking crickets, the noise is horrible, saw it once on a documentary
2. A swarm of bees
3. Being told I had to walk through one of those butterfly tents
4. Mice
being trapped in a room full of birds

Within touching distance of a simple garden spider.

Being within more than quarter of a mile of an ocean -going liner if I was in a small boat - the size of them terrifies me - similarly a whale being that close.

Friday, I was driving down the M6, doing about 75 in bunching traffic in the middle lane. As I dropped back from the car in front, because traffic was stoping way up ahead, a car cut in from the overtaking lane into the gap, and then braked. I knew I was going to hit him in about four seconds, and without thinking, I swerved into the slow lane. If anything had been there, i would have ben totalled, and the cause of a pile-up, but it was empty for that small stretch, I spent the next ten minutes doing thirty-five in the slow lane, shaking and saying "Oh God ..." over and over again - and I'm an aetheist!

It was my birthday as well!!!!!
The thought of my children being hurt/killed serious accident or illness. Bit boring I suppose and not the answer you were looking for but frightens the living daylights out of me.
Anything to do with being stuck in water, ie lake or pool
Bugs, esp cockroaches, caterpillars and spiders
Being locked inside public bathroom stalls
Lobsters and the thought of them escaping out of the tanks at my supermarket
Just a single aggressive wasp!
One of my favourite activies is Scuba diving - I've been doing it for 20 odd years and in that time have dived with all manner of creature - from Turtles to Sharks and Stingrays, have never had a problem and have never encountered an aggressive animal.

But.

As soon as I see a jelly fish, my dive is over and I have to surface. I put this fear, and it is a real fear, probably bordering on a phobia, down to the fact that as a child I was stung by a jelly fish and the pain was immense - faint inducing pain.
I had an incident where exactly this happened, About 2 years ago I was alone at home, my house phone rang one morning at 3am, everytime I went downstairs and got near it, it stopped, I honestly didnt think anything of it (I was VERY sleepy), did 1471 and they didnt leave their number, anyway, it happened for the 4th time, I got up went downstairs and it didnt stop ringing this time so picked it up - silence.....I kept saying "hello, hello", nothing, then I looked up and there was a face pressed against my front door. I can never ever begin to describe to you what I felt at that moment, I was instantly sick, and then everything went black. I woke up on my kitchen floor (the room I had backed into) and I was curled up in the corner with a cut on my mouth and a black eye where I must have fell against the cupboard and it was then 6am.....No sign of anything happening, nobody had been in but that is THE most petrified I have ever been in my life and to this day I still have no idea who it was....Horrible!

Twinkle I know how you feel.

Earlier this year my sister and I were in my house and my neice, who was about a year old at the time, was sleeping upstairs.
I could see into the kitchen and through the window I could see the neighbours automatic light come on. And then there was the silhouette of a man. I felt like my heart had stopped, from the distance I could tell that the man was in my back garden. Then there was this noise at the window, it was him trying to prise open the top section, that was when my sister noticed. I screamed because I was so scared and the man must of heard, he then started banging on the back door and trying the handle. Then it all went quiet and for a second I thought, thank god its over. Then I remembered that the front door was unlocked, I was stuck to the ground, I couldnt lift a leg, so I told my sister and just as she locked it, the mans figure came up to the door and tried to get in there, he then tried our front windows.
My sister phoned the police and they said someone would be right out.
It carried on for about another ten minutes, this man banging on the doors and trying to open the windows. What made it worse was that the whole time I could see his silhouette moving around and it reallty petrified me.
My sister shouted out that we had phoned the police and the dog started barking and thats when he left, our border collie can sound pretty vicious!
That was THE most terrifying (sp) experience ever!

The worst thing was, it happened around 10.30 pm and the police never showed up until 1.30am ! That man could have got in, murdered my sister, her child and I and been long gone in that time! It took my faith out of the local police force completely.
Eugh , gives me shivers thinking about it again when I think of what could have happened.
