i have a pound meter in my flat it appears that it uses a small fortune in electricity is it the electric company or my landlord who sets the fees can i get my electric company to check this
when my dad fist bought our house a few years ago one oif the rooms had one in I think it accepted 50 pence pieces. I dont think it was being used so he got it removed I never knew people still used them!!
The tarrif on coin meters (pre-payment meters) can be set by the supplier or the landlord. The supplier can increase the rate charged to recover arrears.
Coin meters, as I remember, have a switch within the meter that lets the landlord modify the rate charged.
If you're in a long-term tenancy you could investigate changing electricity suppliers.
