Spangles reappeared briefly as Jolly Ranchers (I think, if not the same then very very similar).  Jolly Ranchers are no longer available in the UK but can be bought in the USA.  The dark ones were Old English and they tasted of cough medicine.  Yeuukk.  Loved the fruit ones though.

Loads of old style sweets.

There were cola Spangles, and Old English ones which were (I think) aniseed based and were the ones your grandmother inevitably gave you.
