The routes are split in to 3 Rotas. Generally a driver would stay on one route for that weeks shift, have 2 days off then start the next shift on a different route. Occasionally, you might work 2 days on one route and 3 days on another route. A lot depends on how long the days work is because they have to fit it in to our weekly working hours.
As an aside it takes about 3 yrs to work a complete Rota from top to bottom.

In some areas a driver may operate several routes during the same day, as this leads to more efficient scheduling. Similarly, the bus may of course also run over a number of inter-worked routes.
Drivers will be allocated to rotas that may vary in length from just one week (i.e. a permanent duty) up to more than one hundred working weeks. A smaller rota comprising fewer routes should of course enable drivers to become more efficient with the routes they operate.
However, different companies have very different working practices.
