Retreat from it all... .

I need to get away from it all... I need to know if anyone knows of anywhere that I can go and 'be' for about 4-8 weeks. No t.v, internet, etc etc. I don't mind if it is religious (if that's the only option). Preferably Ireland or the UK. But if India or US only option then I'll take it.

Are you looking for a spiritual retreat?
I suggest you either go spend some time at the Vatican in Rome or maybe go to the middle east, possibly mecca, or to the wailing wall in Israel.... all are great places of retreat, much suited to religious men seeking peace or spiritual calmness or simply old hermits trying to understand the meaning of life.....
I hope you find whatever it is you are looking for.

There's a retreat in Northumberland - Throssel Hole or something - it's Buddhist, and I think there's a website. They welcome people who want to chill out and maybe learn a bit more..... Good luck.

If you can afford it, why not do what Gavin Maxwell (Ring of Bright Water) did and retreat to a remote cottage in Scotland ? It wouldn't be very expensive at this time of year, and it should be very very quiet.
