Just been discussing cabin crew and a thought struck me - why on earth would any sane person voluntarily become an air steward(ess)???
You serve drinks and food in an enclosed space to stroppy travellers, have to mind their kids (there's one as shole delinquent parent who lets their kids run amok on every flight), have to sell duty free/scratchcards etc.
Often wondered the same thing Whickerman!
I certainly would never fancy it.
Maybe it is the uniform, or as they say now, corporate workwear. Doesn't have the same glamour to it when you call the uniform that lol
It may be the travelling to different countries, but each to their own I suppose.
me too - ok foriegn travel is ok, but surely you get a short amount of time wherever before having to come back again. And you get jet lag and crappy skin and i would think you would have trouble keeping friends. if you are on one line between two destinations then its not like theres huge amount of scope for travel anyway
maybe they get paid a lot?
My mate was cabin crew and enjoyed every minute of it , he said they had a right laff and enjoyed many nights of "fun" in many exotic places, Only downside he felt was the old notion that male cabin crew are gay which was far from the truth,
He now is a policeman and looks back on his time as a brill few years likened to backpacking around the world but being paid for it ... I suppose with all them beautiful stewardesses, someone has to do it .....
hehe as long as you don't get a cabin of rivolting Italians not happy with a slight delay and normal procedures of helping other planes in difficulty that don't realize that having one of them kiked off costs 1.5 hours of time and they would have got back sooner had they shut up and behaved, and I hear the ryan air wages are crap and I don't think they see much of their destinations as they are flying non stop just time to load and fuel and ur off again. perhaps one it was more fun
