It is Either because the motherboard that they have put in it will only read a max of 766MB or they have not replace inserted the extra ram that shuld have been put in it. your best bet is to take it back to the shop and explain what is wrong and either get a refund or get them to fix it properly. if they fix it they shouldn't charge you again.
pauln90 MAY be right but did u check what ram it had before in "my computer" as u have just done--if so what did it say?--some motherboards hive off ram for the graphics display and is usually in multiples of 64--so 64, 128, 256 etc--1gb is 1024 mb so hiving 256 from that for graphics would leave 768mb--this doesn't square with what u are getting when u check--although it is close enuf--to check for sure go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system information then choose system summary--scroll down til u find "total physical memory"--if it says 1024mb then it means 256mb or thereabouts is being used for graphics--anything else it says will let u know if u have 1gb of ram or not
