A friend of mine has told me that eating chillies will help raise my metabolic rate and hence lose weight faster - now, should I believe him or not ?

guess so ..."There is evidence to show that spices, especially chilli, can raise the metabolic rate by up to 50% for up to 3 hours after youve eaten a spicy meal.
Drinks containing caffeine also stimulate the metabolism, as does green tea."
Believe them. All 'hot' spices are good for the metabolism.
Some people even sprinkle some into their cuppa!!! But I'm not sure which one as you get; chilli, cayenne and paprika.
i'm eating a bar lindtz chilli chocolate as the mo so it better work as i'm banking on one canceling out the other lol
It does indeed raise the metabolic rate but I wouldn't expect anybody to notice. Every little helps but it's not as if the weight will fly off if you eat a couple of chillies.
I just read in a Sunday supliment that although chilli's do raise your metabolic rate, it only lasts while you're eating them, so they're not of any good when it comes to loosing weight.
using chillies does raise your metabolic rate and using them with your meals for example sprinkled on top of say fish along with your diet helps i used them every day and i would like to say it worked i lost 3 stone in as many months and i still ahven't put the weight back on but hey ho if you like chillies does it make any difference to try i also drank a lot of green t or lemon t
