Geoffrey Street,Manchester 1912 ?
Im doing my family history and on a birth certificate from 1912 and the address is Geoffrey Street in Chorlton on Medlock,South Manchester. Does anyone know where this street was? Please any help would be greatfull. Thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.it was behind Avon Street, and next to Old Elm Street and Brunswick street, with Ismay Street just up from there, but they were demolished in the slum clearance in the 1960s acccording to the MANCHESTER ONLINE SITE.
When I need to know where a street was, I go to the start of the enuumeration district on the census, this can be looked at on the view image screen online, so if you look at the 1901 census for Chorlton and look at the enumerators description of that district, you can see how the enumerator walked and which streets, pubs etc were on the toute, this can usually help pinpoint the location of a long pulled down street.

if this link works, it is of St pauls Church Chorlton on medlock in Brunswick street, in the present day, and so it gives you a good idea of the location of geoffrey Street.
