After I have taken quite a few photos I then download them.........camera goes off till the next time.My question is when I take some more photos and want to download them I'm asked if I want to write over the previous ones as they are numbered(I don't give them names)the same which I obviously don't,is there a quick way of doing this without going through all the latest ones and re-numbering them???
Thanks!!!!!!
Thanks!!!!!!

as you know - if you do overwrite .. you'll loose the older files each time
here are a couple of easy options
first is to create a new folder everytime you transfer the files ... june07 ... or blackpool07.... 07_06 (easy to sort)
the alternative is to download something like Rename-master
http://www.joejoesoft.com/
copy the files and re-name them (the prog will do sequential numbering) so blackpool01, 02 etc
the last is to use a prog such as picasa

I think the problem is because the folder a digital camera creates is usually called "DCIM" If you down load this and leave the name unchanged, then the next download will again be named "DCIM" and as you can't have two folders with the same name you are asked if you want to overwrite the previous one.
The solution is to rename the folder each time after you download it.
You could copy the folder to your desktop, right click on it,scroll down to the "rename" entry left click that. The folder name can then be renamed to something(perhaps a date,or short reference to the contents,so DCIM might become 221107,taking todays date as an example. If you follow this routine each time the problem won't occur
