Did you take the temperature in a different place to normal.........what I mean is was the thermometer under the arm as opposed to under the tongue? Armpit temps can measure lower. The normal range for temperature is between 36.5 and 37.2 under the tongue but can be up to 0.3 lower under the arm.

My daughter is poorly and has a raised temperature. Im not 100%, feels like Im getting a cold myself, so chekced my temperature too. Its only 35.8 C, my normal body temp is usually between 36.5 and 36.8 c.
Not much of a difference I know, I was just curious as to why it was lower :)

38 degrees is core temp, you can usually access this via a rectal probe

a very big, painful (so they tell me) makes your eyes water rectal probe

Wow thank you all for the answers!

legend, thats a high temperature! lol

I always take my temp by putting the thermometer (digital one) in my mouth.

Thanks 4gs, I will look at that now :)
I wouldn't worry.. thats nothing to worry about. Could be a number of things and if you take a person's temp twice in a short time, it will usually be different. Like someone said, depends where you take it. They reckon taken under the arm, you can usually add another degree or so.

Thanks for that 4gs, chances are its just because its early in the day. According to that link body temperature tends to be lower in the morning :)
