When can I open a student account?

I'm starting a nursing diploma in March, but want to open a student account ASAP so that I can use my overdraft to pay for all the bits and bobs I'm going to need.

Does anyone know how soon I can open one and will I be able to receive my overdraft straight away?

Have you got proof that you have been accepted? i.e. letter from the college/university?

If you have that should be enough to open the account & receive the benefits.
