Removing a property caution
In 2003 I was advised to put a caution on the property owned by my then partner as we were in the process of separating. He is now selling the property and has agreed to give me part of the sale.
I called the solicitor I dealt with but my case has been archived. Is there a simple way to have the caution removed without using solicitor? Can I write to his solictor to say I agree to the sale?

You'll need to sign a Land Registry form (probably form RX3) to remove the caution. Chances are that the solicitor will prepare this form and insist that you sign it and give it to him/her before contracts exchange on the sale. If they do, insist that the solicitor gives you a written undertaking to pay over the money to you immediately following the sale.
