2nd Class Recorded Post
5 Answers
Bought an item off ebay. Sent on friday to me by recorded 2nd class. Still hasnt arrived. Seller sent me a tracking number, but its useless having one as royal mail cant advise until AFTER delivery.
Now, 6 days and no item, surely 2nd class shouldnt take that long!?!

It's not all that unusual for a second class item to take over a week. Too soon to start worrying.
You are right, with Recorded delivery you won't see anything on the Royal Mail tracking page until it is delivered, or at least until they try to deliver - but then they should leave you a card to say that anyway.

Too soon to worry, but no harm in giving your local sorting office a ring to see if it's there.
There are too many posties not bothering with the cards to say delivery has been attempted these days.
The longest for me with first class signed for was 16 days - thankfully my buyer was very understanding

Ethel, I did have a fairly high opinion of your comments and views, but after that remark, something you cannot generalise on, there was a serious dip. Do you genuinely believe that we want to write a note out, on the street, plus do all the paperwork when we get back, rather than actually get rid of the item?
As for ringing the sorting office, that'll do no good - some people have no idea of how much post there is nowadays, and it's impossible to isolate an item unless delivery has been tried.
