Hip replacement
3 Answers
I had a total hip relacement 5 weeks ago, very successful and I am able to walk without a stick around the house. I still take one if I go for a walk! However I am still very tender right down the outside of my thigh and I still get a lot of swelling in the evening. Has any one else suffered this?

I had a total hip replacement just over a year ago and now I find it hard to believe that I have a replacement hip joint as I am fully back to normal.Nevertheless I had lots of tenderness down my leg for quite a long time.It was explained to me that all the tendons and muscles have to repair after being ripped apart. It is after all a very brutal operation but well worth it.I decided to help the healing process by taking Glucosamine and Chondroiton tablets and found they he;lped.Myproblem was walking properly without listing to one side but eventually it righted itself.I also recommend that the physio exercises are carried out every day as per instructions.Painful but well worth the effort.Good luck .day by day you will begin to heal.
hey there....my gran had her hip replaced a year ago on the 1st dec and she had swelling for quite a while! she ended up getting celluelitis but it was cleared up with a course of antibiotics. if you start to get a bit of redness and oozing around the wound...have your doctor take a look at it!
My grans operation has left her with a big dent on the side of her hip lol they must have cut some muscle off lol
