slow cooker - chipped??

The lid of my slow cooker has got a small chip in it. This means there is a small gap of about 1cm. Will it still be ok to cook a casserole in it. Will it cook properly?

If I want to make sure steam stays in my pans I put a piece of tin foil over the top and then put the lid on. Perhaps you could try this with your cooker.
I had this with my old one . Is it one with an earthenware lid ? I did the foil bit as Pea Pod suggested for a while but the chip kept "creeping "and getting bigger and as a slow cooker is on for a long time and you need to keep the heat in I decided to cut my losses and buy a new one with a reinforced glass lid .
Can't see a problem with that, cameo. My parents cooking pots are all second hand, and they cook just fine. I should worry if your pressure cooker has a gap of 1cm in the lid though.

I am planning to buy a new one in the new year, but until then I'll try the tin foil approach!!
cameo buy Cooksworks slow cooker in Argos. They were 19.99 or something like that reduced to 9.96. I have a crown of chicken on right now. bye
