Has No one thought to ask the best manager in English football to take the England job ? I mean,of course, Sir Alex Ferguson ! Maybe a seat in the House of Lords would persuade him.

Any manager who takes up the England job must be a loony. There has only been 1 successful manager since the war and that was Alf Ramsey who was sacked later. Alex Ferguson is a Scot so imagine the animosity from North of the border. Maybe a better solution would be a player manager who would have more respect from the team and would know instinctively the style required to beat the opposition.

It is unlikely he would want the job. He has a far better team to work with than he could ever have as England Manager, he is handsomely paid at Old Trafford, he is winning silverware still. He has a board he can work with after 21 years.

Why would he want to jack that in to work for the bumbling halfwits at the FA?

I think no one has asked him because he would probably tell them, in his best Glaswegian accent, to fook off, that is, when he had stopped laughing his head off at such a stupid request.

There are a number of reasons, the main one being that he is Scottish.

The FA would never ask a Scot to be England manager, and I am not sure a Scot would take the England job.

But any England manager has also to be "good" with the press, and you may not be aware of this, but Sir Alex is very "bad" with the press.

He gives plenty of interviews, but still refuses to talk to the BBC because of their critisism of his son's business dealings (you never see him on Match of the Day for example).

He has also refused to talk to MUTV (Man Utd TV - their own TV station) in the past because of things they have said)

He can also be very "rude" to the press and at the end of interviews he will say things like "now go away and write your sh1te"

No arguing that he is a great manager, but he has not got the "tact" to be an international manager (the same reason Brian Clough never got it, and also why Mourinho will never be offered it)
