If anyone has the Nov edition of Unison mag and knows the answers to these I'll be able to sleep at night! Thanks.....

Overlaps puzzle:
Each clue contains a definition of the answer but also a letter mix of the answer - straddling more than one word but never "touching" the definition. E.G. Food dissected for old bird (4). The answer is "dodo" - being defined by OLD BIRD and the letters can be seen from the first O in FOOD to the D in DISSECTED - all mixed up!

1. Clue: Plastic oar hits swimmer (5)
2. Clue: Mints attract creepy-crawley (6)
3. Clue: One that's close is remembered (5)
4. Clue: Use torch on type of cigar (7)
5. Clue: Brief rest energises (5)
