Read in the paper that Toshiba will lauch a laptop next year with a high density dvd HDDVD....uses Sony's blue ray technology....though is not the same format ....Sony will aslo launch a DVD handycam next year using their blueray laser technology...... so two new formats.... has anyone any plans for buying a new dvd player recorder for Xmas?........

its the usual format wars when a new product arrives - vhs vs betamax to name but one

dvd recorders will be around for many years to come until blu-ray etc become cheaper
