what kind of work are we talking about? would you have to work along side another criminal - how can this serve the communit? seems like the crminials are the ones that draw griffity in the first place. ha ha get a thief to catch a thief!!1

seriousley if someone is educated PHD standard first time offender ( domestic with MRS) WHY DOES'NT THE GOVERNMENT USE HIS SKILLS AND EDUCATION TO BETTER USE THEN THAT???

Are you referring to Community Service Orders? If so there is two types - team placements and personal placements.

Team -
The work is undertaken in small community service work teams (four or five people maximum) under the supervision of a community service work supervisor. There are a range of team placements:

* gardening
* painting and decorating
* joinery
* removals and deliveries
* light duties
* women only

ersonal placements



This work is undertaken on an individual basis with the offender being supervised by a nominated manager who reports progress and compliance to the supervising community service officer. There is a wide range of personal placements available within non-profit making agencies, for example:

* voluntary agencies
* charity shops
* churches
* community groups

The object of Community Service Orders is to serve the community in a useful way, which does not require academic skills.

In my locality the gardening is done on roadside flower beds in distinctive uniform. And rightly so.

My boyfriends doing community service at a local church. He does gardening, but if the weathers really bad they go inside and do decorating and things.
There's about 10 - 15 of them at a time.
He hates it. Which I suppose is the whole point of it ! He doesn't have to wear a uniform or anything though. And his supervisor is a right rough ******.

Suzieb I guess the whole point is not to enjoy your self.
The rest of the group have commited the some sort of criminal offnece I guess.
Although working ina church can't be that bad your on the right side of the spritial world. my cousion is going to be doing 150 hours of painting etc etc I dont envy her but its better then being behind bars I guess.
