wartime pregnancies

now a lot of women got preggers during the 2nd world war.
but we are led to believe they were all very innocent and virginal then.
so was it a case of worrying about dying during the war that encouraged our grannnies to drop their drawers so readily and easily ?
or were they really old slappers and were glad of an ecuse for some bonking whilst their hubbys were away at war ?
there were a lot of goings on
was it fear or just plain old lust ??

But then that was relatively easy to clear up and those at home none the wiser.
