On ITV's TELETEXT today, I see a news story with former Attorney General Lord Goldsmith saying that some of the words of Britain's national anthem are 'not inclusive' and might need replacing. Apparently Goldsmith reckons 'strong feelings about national symbols have to be taken into account'.

What is it with this nation - why do we let so many foreigners in and then change our ways and traditions to suit them, rather than making them accept ours? Can this trend be reversed, or is it too late? What chance do you think of other nations (like Pakistan, India or Sudan, for example) changing their ways and traditions to suit any Brits living there?

Tell you what, we'll have their country as well and they can have ours.

We would get the wine and the Riviera.

Once we've settled in, block up the Chunnel
We are the Champions!

Ooops! Sorry, wrong thread.
Britain doesnt have a national anthem!!!!! OOHH are you talking about the ENGLISH national anthem?? Or you could say that its the national anthem of the common wealth to put it more correctly. I think England should have its own anthem, you dont actually have one!!
Don't worry, I have the correct answer right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szCD7nGDDf4 *careful strong language, the answerbank can not be deemed responsible for the contents of external websites*
Thats well cool skreecheeboy!! Havent actually seen that film yet!! There was still a reference to Britain their tho!! English when are you going to learn that your country is called ENGLAND not Britain!!!!!
Yes but talliesin, it's still the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which means that we share soverignty, I still think of myself as Scottish but I am very much Brittish too. The only part of the UK which can legitimately call itself a seperate entity is the Kingdom of Fife for some reason, not sure why, all I know is I heard it from a fifer and believed him but they chose not to for some reason.
Im all for GB!! But we are still seperate countries!! When you talk about your COUNTRY your talking about England not Britain. When you make references to Britain when your talking about England surely your taking away the fire that makes England England!! Of course be proud to be British, god i am just be proud to be english also!! Surely that makes sense?? By doing this you also confuse people in other countries as they point to our Island and call it England!! It ill education
Im not talking directly to u their skreecheeboy cos your scottish!! Just to England in general, does that make sense to u at all??
Not really, my Dad's English and he want's us to accept him as a naturalised Scot. He gets ashamed of his English brothers when they go abroad to footy matches and act like louts, though I think most of the country is embarrassed by that too.
Its to late flipnflap, the loonies have taken over. Can't you see by the answers you have been given. The country has gone to pot, I just wonder what the older generation would have thought, going through 2 World Wars for King & Country.
