Trying to find the perfect gift for my first wedding anniversary....I've gotten the general idea that the traditional 1st wedding anniversary gift is PAPER, and I want to stick to tradition, but I would like a creative twist to it.....something that will be awe-inspiring...or at least memorable. Any Ideas?

As you've rightly said the 1st anniversary theme is Paper, so what about some tickets?

Airplane(if you're a little bit flush!), theatre, concert, cinema?  I'm sure you get the idea.

Some cheesy ones...

Certificate - International STar Registry, Sponsor an Animal (WWF, NCDL etc)

Really good quality personal stationery (headed paper, calling cards etc)

Paper view TV - hahaha

Plant a tree (paper in waiting?) and watch it grow - like your love for each other.

I'm so cheesy

Origami anyone - i think those little swans are very impressive

A piece of the moon - you get a certificate and everything for 20

You can also get one of those 'Lord of the Land' or Laird or something, a certificate of ownership of 1 sq foot of land in Scotland that entitles you to call your self Lord, or Laird.  Try lastminute.com.

Most people I know tend to buy an eternity ring for the 1st anniv.  Dunno, what blokes get though!

What about a copy of the times or whatever from your anniversary day, her birthday, whatever? You can get them from here

There's also that perrenial favorite, paper money. It won't get taken back for exchange, either!
I created a book of vouchers (1 back rub, I shopping trip with no complaints, 1 home cooked 3 course meal, several I'm not willing to post).  Seemed to be received in the spirit it was intended
a divorce lol
