My hairdresser had a hindu symbol tattooed on her wrist, meaning the past present and the future all in perfect harmont with one another. Anybody kno what this is called or where i could view it, as i would like it tattooed on my neck. TIA. x
There are many different explanations of the meaning of Om. That site is just one of many covering the subject and was the first one that came up on my search.
Pink flower, With respect,
If you are not a Hindu, have you thought that having a tattoo of a sacred religious symbol as a fashion accessory could be insulting to that religion?
May I suggest that if you really want a tattoo, then why not make your own design, then you can have it mean anything that you want it to mean.
.steg., with respect, there is nothing insulting to Hindus in wearing an Om. I wear one in 22ct Indian gold that was brought back from Nepal and I was given for my 40th birthday. Most Hindus I meet like the idea that I wear it. Actually they take it more as respect for their culture than disrespect.
PinkFlower, can I add,
There was 2 other replies that could be helpfull to you, both from Aprilis (sp) in the first he/she stated that it could be Om(Aum) and that they had a gold pendant with the symbol on it. And the second which came after my reply, stated that he/she knew some Hindus who liked the fact that they wore the symbol and that it is not insulting to the Hindu religion for someone to ware the symbol.
Both the answers have now disappeared for some reason.
Thank you .steg., that was me. I appear to have been banned for some reason I can't fathom. There is a limit on how many times you can post within a certain time frame so perhaps that's why. But I take so long to submit my answers that would seem unlikely!
Oh well, when I'm allowed back out of the dungeon no doubt my answers will reappear. But thank you for reposting my comments. Very thoughtful of you!
