Did anyone see the very beginning scene of the Tudors on Friday, If so, why was it necessary for Henry viii to 'self pleasure' with an aide present, holding a container to collect the goods, so to speak? Surely, these things have always been done alone??? I am genuinely curious!

Nothing would surprise me as they had servants to do everything for them.
I think historical accuracy has gone out of the window with The Tudors anyway
Historical acuracy? The Tudors? Hah! It looks more like a boy-band video than a drama. henry is supposed to be in his mid-forties by now, and portraits show he was hardly the chisel-jawed six-packer that plays him in this series!

The notion that the monarch wouold not have any number of courtiers willing to relieve his frustrations is another nonsese, probably just a bit of titilation for the ladeeez.
Well Henry the VIII did have someone to wipe his bottom for him, the Groom of the Stool.

Can you imagine someone asking "What do you do for a living then..."

Thanks for your replies. The Groom of the Stool link is interesting vhg!
Andy - I agree about the appearance of Henry 8th. He would have more accurately been portrayed by Mick Hucknall I think! Jonathan Rhus-Myers is fab eye candy for us ladies though...man is he hot!!
