whats the sentance

could any1 help??? my partner was stabbed 3 months ago the guy has now been caught and i wanted to know if any1 knows how long this fella is looking at serving behind bars??? thank you..
p.s the police tell us he will be charged with sention 18

it will depend on loads of things,what the charge is,why he did it,any previous convictions,was he provoked,etc,etc.

As Norman says it depends a lot.

But if he's found guilty he is going to prison.

I think the CPS appeal any non custodial sentence to GBH with intent and in the last figures I saw they had 100% sucess of such cases getting a custodial sentence.

Again it's a few years ago but the average sentence was 50 months.

GBH with intent also carries a maximum sentence of life which means he could also now receive an IPP or indeterminant sentence in which case he'd have to demonstrate he was safe to release.

thankyou for your replys, yes he has previous been in trouble before and the attack wasnt provoked, he has been remanded untill feb next year and then he will be asked how he pleads..then the court case shall begin..

thats one under attempted murder so hes looking at a possibility of 5 years. if its 2nd or 3rd conviction then he could get struck off with serving a life sentence.
