I have purchased the Ice Road Truckers dvd off amazon for one of my husbands christmas presents. I have noticed on the order it says region 1 NTSC. Does this mean it won't work in this country?
Most TV's sold in this country over the past 10 years or so are NTSC compatable, so it may only be your player that will be the problem.
My DVD player was the cheapest on the market at the time I bought it ( about 7 years ago ) and I looked on the Internet to find the way to change region.
Do an Internet search like "DVD player hack" and then search the make and model of your DVD player. It usually involves pressing a combination of buttons to access the "factory set-up" ( i.e. the region it was set to before it left the factory ). You will have to set the region to region 2 to play your British discs.
the region refers to the dvd itself and the player but I think NTSC is more to do with the TV you watch it on, so you may need to check both out. Hacking the player may not be enough.
