Feel depressed, just had my hamster put to sleep

it's true I always think of the animal in their heaven - it this case hamster heaven I see him eating huge 100x size choc drops, carrot and monkey nuts, it always makes me smile

Hamsters dont get cancer, I've never heard of hamsters dying off cancer.... so stop bluffing and if you really have a hamster, give him a big cuddle and be glad you still have him.

sorry to hear that, I remember crying buckets when my cat was put to sleep (brain tumour) but in the end she was really bad, she became blind and wouldnt eat, even though putting her to sleep was for the best and we knew it was coming it still didnt prepare us for the feeling of emptiness and loss.

we got another cat a few months later, will never replace our old cat but it did ease the pain

sorry about that what..the? always sad when we loose our pets, no matter what they are! Ive always had cats and dogs and a few hamsters along the way and yes, its heartbreaking when they die!

I agree with cazzz.

When my cat was put to sleep I got another two cats (brother & sister..I couldn't part them!) a few weeks later. I still weep a bit when I think of Sonny, but knowing about Rainbow Bridge and the fact that he is no longer suffering eases the pain ~ as well as having Salem & Tabitha to cuddle :o)

Thanks for the support everyone. Sorry to hear about your losses, if is very diificult. I have other pets, I suppose I am a bit of a collector of pets. I have 6 guinea pigs and a rabbit still which all live indoors and get cuddles and treats 24-7. They are very spoilt but why not! I was always told as a child that I couldn't have pets and I had to wait until I am an adult and live away to get pets, so after all that time I am making up for all the lost time, also lifes been difficult over the last few years and they have been a massive support to me, animals can be more supportive than humans at times because they never say or do the wrong thing do they.

he is quite old now 15 years old so he sleeps most of the time now but he used to be very wild and good fun

I don't usually like little furries but Hamish looks adorable in his video.

He definitely had lots of character and was a charming lad.

It is only natural to miss him - he was a friend, 'bairn' and somebody you shared your house with.
