Alternatively, post rubbish, put the kettle on, pass the cakes round, and generally fritter away your life. I think I might join you, because this is a 1200-page (OMG!!) book and I'm not sure I can face it. So, how many sugars ?

What stuff and nonsense Whiffey - have you read any of Philippa Gregory's works (eg The Other Boleyn Girl), Dava Sobel (Longitude) or Mark Kurlansky (Salt: A World History) ?

What's wrong with a 1200 page book anyway ?

No sugar, no milk either please :)
it should be 'A historical novel' cos H is not a vowel. I disgree though, I particularly think Arnold Bennett's work can be classed as such.
good grief katie, and your a chocolate fan? how can you turn your back on those delicious granules.

tate and lyle will be around your house with nunchucks before bedtime I bet.

Whiffey I have 4 large books to read before january and Im expecting some other work so you count your luckies

2 sugars please (im not sweet enough it seems)
Would recommend the Ken Follet sequel (only 1,110 pages) to the Pillars of the Earth.... historical, educational, entertaining and a thoroughly good read!

Which book were you referring to whiffey?

Missy

I must apologise here Whiffey for that 1200 page book on the history of agricultural fencing I sent to you for your birthday. I never knew it would cause so much grief....
Question Author
I have here on my knees in bed The Herring Chronicles by Hugh Walpole and it's gone up to 1487 pages ! On page one David is in bed with his two sisters and feeling their chubby naked arms, and apparently half-clothed. Bu$$er this I am going to read Lorna Doone.
Question Author
Ah ha Jugglering, I have that strange fencing book going in parallel, and it is indeed VERY funny !
In case anyone is wondering what on earth Whiffey and I are on about here, just go and get hold of a copy of Magnus Mills' *The Restraint of Beasts* - you will never look at agricultural fencing in the same light again... brilliant stuff
